“If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and forgive their sin and heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14)

In March google searches for prayer skyrocketed to the highest level in 5 years, according to researchers. As this crisis spread across the globe people were working out how to respond and one of those responses has been an increase in prayer.

We were so encouraged by the fact that we covered the 5 days in prayer, 24-7, during holy week and it’s been great to hear your feedback from that!

The Methodist Church in Ireland has been caught up in what God is doing through the 24-7 Prayer movement in many ways over the last decade and longer. 24-7 Prayer are inviting us to join in with a wave of prayer that is spreading across the globe!

The invitation is this:

‘Set your alarm for 7:14 twice a day, morning and evening. Pause to pray on your own or with your family and friends, alongside millions all over the world.

We believe that through our prayers we can see God’s Kingdom Come. It’s time to take God at his word: to humble ourselves, to get our hearts right, to pray for the healing of our lands from the Covid-19 virus – and for an outpouring of God’s spirit in the midst of this crisis.’ (24-7 prayer)

You can find weekly resources to help you pray on the 24-7 prayer website and we will highlight these on IMYC’s social media each week also.

They released a specific challenge to young people to pray, (click here to see video). If you are a church leader or youth leader, why not encourage your young people to set their alarms and unite with you to pray 714?

You could also arrange a time in the week where you pray together using something like zoom, to share what God is saying and doing.

As a team at IMYC we have been sensing a call of God to go deeper with Him during this time and a need to up the ante in prayer, this is one way we could do this together, as we pray, in the name of Jesus.
