Day eight: Exodus 8
This chapter tells us of more judgments that God sent on Pharaoh and Egypt. In chapter 7, God showed Pharaoh His power by giving Aaron and Moses the power to turn a walking stick into a snake and by turning the water throughout the land into blood. But, even after seeing this, Pharaoh still did not let the Israelites go.
The next judgement was the infestation of frogs in Egypt. Pharaoh then after some time called on Moses and Aaron to ask God to remove the frogs as a swap for letting the Israelites offer their sacrifices to God. Moses then said to Pharaoh that the only frogs that would remain would be the ones in the river. But when Pharaoh saw that the other frogs died, he changed his mind preventing the Israelites from offering their sacrifices. As a result of Pharaoh not letting the Israelites go, Egypt suffered the plague of gnats and flies, ruining the crops and land. Even though these were once again removed, Pharaoh’s heart hardened still, preventing the Israelites from leaving.
Let’s take the feeling of reassurance and support from this chapter. Through all of the judgements that Moses and Aaron warned Pharaoh of and created; they always had God helping them, from the words they said to Pharaoh to the creation of the plagues. They would have been unable to do these judgements without the aid of God. This is just like us, we all need God’s help in everything that we do whether that is praying for comfort before an exam, for peace in a troubling time in life or maybe circumstances in life are changing. He will never abandon us but fill us with His support and overwhelming peace.
Come and see what God has done.
Question for today: Do you think that you need to bring God into the areas of life in which you need support in and how will you do so?
