Day thirty-five: Exodus 35
Do you prefer more thoughtful gifts or more expensive gifts?
If you were to give a gift to God would it be the most expensive thing you could buy? Would you compare your gift to other people’s and if theirs was cheaper than yours would you think that you are better off?
When it says,’ Take from among you an offering to the LORD. Whoever is of a willing heart, let him bring it as an offering to the LORD’ it reminded me that we don’t need any expensive offerings to give to God, all we need is a willing heart. I see a willing heart as a heart that is full of love for God as well as everything that He has created and is willing to obey God. This offering came from God’s command, not from Moses so he didn’t say for offerings because he wanted more stuff or money, God ordered the offerings from willing hearts. I just find this really striking, don’t you? Isn’t it amazing that God doesn’t desire the most expensive materials from those who can afford it but He does desire it from all of those who have a willing heart for Him.
How willing is your heart for God? If he asks you to do an action outside your comfort zone will you gladly, quickly obey Him and complete that action or would you hesitate, or try and get out of it? These scenarios can be of other things instead of doing an action.
Think of if there is anything in your life that God is calling you to do, but you just don’t want to do it. Recentre yourself in God’s presence and ask for His courage, support and guidance in doing what He wants you to do.
Come and see what God has done.
Question for today: Do you have a willing heart from God?
