Day thirty: Exodus 30

As I was reading through Exodus 30 there was one thing that stood out to me. It was the anointing oil. I couldn’t figure out why until I realised that it reminded me of Psalm 23. In Psalm 23 it says “You anoint my head with oil”.

Exodus 30 gives us very specific instructions for this anointing oil and what to do with it. Take a minute to re-read verses 26 to 29.

It tells us that the oil was to be used to “consecrate them so they will be the most holy, and whatever touches them will be holy.” Using this oil to anoint them made them most holy and so made them very important items. The reason this made me think of Psalm 23 is because when it says “You anoint my head with oil” it made me realise that this is extremely significant.

If we’ve been anointed with this oil by God, then that means that we are important. But not just in the way that we already know. This oil was used to make things most holy. So when God anoints our heads with oil, it’s significant.

How should we act then? Are we acting the way we should, or are there things that we do that we should be changing?

Each and every one of us is important to God.

Come and see what God has done.

Question for today:  Is there something that you do that you should change knowing this?
