Day twenty-five: Exodus 25

Have you ever had something offered to you? So, whether your mind goes to the time you created peace between two people or a time when you were offered a piece of cake at a party.

If you were told that you had to offer something to God, what would you give? – Money, a car, your favourite item or maybe something else. But what did they Israelites give? Well, the Israelites gave offerings of blue, purple, scarlet, fine linen, goat hair, Ram’s skin, badgers skin and acacia’s skin. You may think that that is a random collection of materials but each of them has a symbolic representation to the building that Moses built as a command from God because this would be the place where God “dwelled among them” and this was where Moses met with God the people who offered items did so because their “heart prompts them to give”, they most likely prayed about what they should offer up to the tabernacle.

Let’s take a minute to think about when God said “Then have them make a sanctuary for me, and I will dwell among them.”  By doing this He creates a specific, holy place where men could meet Him, but not where He was to exclusively live.

To me I think that it is God wanting a relationship with us so much, that in order for Him to do this He came to earth creating a sacred area where they could meet with Him. I find it amazing that God cares so much for us that He would do so much for us to have a relationship with Him and be able to seek advice. So, with all that God has done for us out of His love and to have a relationship with us; by sending His only son to earth where He died to save us from our sins and that He created a holy area down in earth for the Israelites to meet with God and sit in His holy presence.

How much will you offer to God? When you hear that question, you may think about possessions/ materialistic things but do you think about spiritually and giving your life to God. Are you willing to have a relationship with God?

Come and see what God has done.

Question for today:  How much will you offer to God?
