A YEAR TO GIVE & A YEAR TO GROW

A year to give and a year to grow.

Team on Mission is the gap year program in the Methodist Church in Ireland for 18-25-year-olds and it has been running for over 30 years. It’s a year to answer the call of Jesus: go and make disciples.

WHAT IS TOM?

“The mission has and always will be to answer the call of Jesus – to love God and others and to make disciples.”

Team on Mission is a gap year programme in the Methodist Church in Ireland for 18-25 year olds and it has been running for over 30 years. The mission has and always will be to answer the call of Jesus – to love God and others and to make disciples. The work is mostly with young people and children but the team also get involved in the whole life of the church. A year on Team on Mission is about experiencing life with new people in new places- across Ireland!

Our hope is that Team on Mission encourages and supports the work of God around the connexion and challenges the faith of children, young people and leaders. Team On Mission also gives you experience and training in youth and children’s work – including an accredited OCN (Open College Network) level 2 award in Youth Work Practice. Our prayer is that Team on Mission encourages, challenges and supports your relationship with God That you develop new skills, discover new gifts from God and be rooted in who He has created you to be.

WHAT WILL TOM LOOK LIKE THIS YEAR?

The mission of TOM team remains the same however its practicalities and layout will look very different this year. We are really excited to see how this year will unfold and what God does through these changes and through TOM32.

The team will be living in Belfast and serving the Methodist Church in Ireland both face to face and online. The team will be releasing online resources each week for any and every church or household to use and they will also be engaging with youth, children and families face to face, where social distancing and safety precautions are maintainable. The team will be based in each district for 3 months and will connect in with churches, youth groups and schools on a weekly basis. We are excited for this new model of team and have loved seeing the enthusiasm of the team members as these changes have been made. It is clear to us that this team is full of servant hearted young adults who are trusting God in what He has for them this year. Keep an eye out for all of their online resources and for when they are part of your district in the next year!

SAY HELLO TO TOM32!

Adam Boardwell
Adam BoardwellTOM32
Hey, I’m Adam. An American/Canadian, 18 year old, living in Sligo Ireland for the past 6 years. I like drawing and music and parkour. I’m a movie encyclopaedia. I love creation science and palaeontology and physics and all that jazz. I’ve lead kids clubs in my community, and Sunday school in my church, and camps around Ireland. I love kids. I’m basically a 6ft child… but maybe slightly more mature than that sounds. Most importantly I love people and I can’t wait to help them, serve them and get to know them in this year! And to serve God by doing that!

Hi! My name is Lauren Conly and I am from Joanmount Methodist church. Some interesting facts about me are that I love Harry Potter and music, especially musicals and I love a good pun! I’m really excited to see how God is going to use me to do his work and also to grow my relationship with Him. I also cannot wait to meet a lot of new people and build many new relationships!

Hey! My name’s Rebekah, I’m 18 and I live in Belfast. I’ve just finished school at Methodist College and next year I will be studying Social Policy and Sociology at the University of Edinburgh. One of my favourite hobbies is singing, whether it’s with the praise band at my church or at home with the piano! I’m really excited for this year on TOM team and all the new challenges as well as experiences it will bring. I’m looking forward to being able to build new relationships with people of all ages in churches across MCI and also the opportunity to grow in my own faith and personal relationship with God.
