STEPPING FORWARD TOGETHER

As we enter spring and summer, we want to be people who carry hope. People who eagerly anticipate and look forward to a time where we can all be together again- to worship, to laugh, to learn and to journey together as disciples as a community of faith. But we also recognise that the last season has been long, tiring and life-changing.

We want to do all we can to support, encourage and equip you in your ministry with children, young people, young adults and family. So we are STEPPING FORWARD TOGETHER.

Below you will see three opportunities you can get involved in as you prepare for the season ahead.

Online Conversations

An opportunity to process what is possible over the summer months, in our work with young people and children.

Come and chat with other leaders as we share ideas, deal with the practical questions and problem solve together. There are two dates to choose from:

  • 29th April at 8pm
  • 4th May at 8pm

At this stage these are for churches based in Northern Ireland only, as we are waiting to see what developments happen with restrictions in the Republic of Ireland, before we set a date. The sign up for these conversations will open on the 12th of April (keep an eye on our social media and emails to sign up).

Online Learning Communities

  • Connect with others and process the weeks ahead
  • Ask questions, reflect and learn from each other
  • Spark creativity and imagination for the new season

Learning communities are designed to support you in your ministry with children and young people. You will have the opportunity to connect with others in ministry from across the district or island, one evening a week for 6 weeks. Our hope is that they will offer you a space to ask questions, reflect, learn from others and that they act as a tool to spark imagination and creativity as you step forward into a new season in ministry.

Unfortunately, we need to postpone the start dates of this opportunity. We will reassess whether this can happen before the summer or late August into September and be in touch with new dates as soon as possible. Please feel free to register your interest below!

Ministry Essentials Training

  • Build or brush up on skills
  • Practical learning environment
  • Receive support and encouragement from others
  • Great for new leaders

This course is designed for all those who are entering a new volunteer role working with children or young people or for those who have been involved for some time but want to build on already existing skills. Whether you are 18, 50 or somewhere in-between, we hope this short course will encourage you as you build on existing skills, learn some new ones and spend time putting into practice what you are learning, supported by another leader.

Unfortunately, we need to postpone the start dates of this opportunity. We will reassess whether this can happen before the summer or late August into September and be in touch with new dates as soon as possible. Please feel free to register your interest below!

Engaging Beyond Church

  • How do we build relationships when we can’t do normal programme?
  • How do we begin to engage with those who have never engaged with us?
  • Loads of young people hang outside our church – what can we do or what is the next step?
  • What is the relationship between discipleship and mission?
  • Where do we even begin as we think about engaging or re-engaging with children, young people and families?

Listen to this conversation between Leanne from IMYC, Chris from Youth for Christ and Kathryn from the Home Mission Department as they answer some of these questions, and give advice and ideas for engaging those beyond church in this season (or click here).
